Richard Waterous
Dick was born in Brantford and has been a life-long resident of the City except while attending University and Law School. He is a graduate of the Brantford Collegiate Institute and the University of Toronto (Class of 1951) where he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree after studying Political Science and Economics. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1955 after studying law at Osgoode Hall Law School, then operated by the Law Society of Upper Canada. In 1951 he also received a commission in Canada's Naval Reserve.
In 1977 Dick was granted the Degree of Master of Laws by York University, after standing first in the initial post-graduate course in Business Law offered by its Law School.
Over the years, Dick's practice has focused on corporate and commercial law, tax matters, real estate development and estate planning and administration. He has a wide experience in advising upon a considerable variety of commercial contracts and especially upon the financing, purchase and sale of businesses. He is a director of a number of companies involved in manufacturing, information technology and financial services.
Dick is a Past President of the Brantford Chamber of Commerce and of the Brant Law Association, Past Chairman of the Brantford Economic Development Board, Past Chairman of the City of Brantford Committee of Adjustment and a founding Director of the Brant County Foundation for the Mentally Retarded.
A skier, and for many years a member (and Past Director) of Holimont Ski Club, Ellicottville, New York, Dick is also a keen fisherman and the founder and President of La Réserve Beauchêne Inc., Temiscaming, Quebec.
Dick is married (Joan), has four children, Jeffrey, Johanna, Jane and Adam, and eight grandchildren...
